Busy city

I have been to Portland many times but today it clicked that it is actually a city! A very busy and lively city! I've never lived in a city that is so full of life. They have these concerts in Pioneer Square every Tuesday and Thursday during the lunch hour and TONS of people attend. After it is over they just stay there either reading, getting on their laptop or whatever but they just stick around. I went to the Japanese Gardens for three hours after the concert was over and when I got back to the Square it was STILL so busy!! I guess I'm just not used to it coming from a ghost town!

I absolutely love Portland, Or. it will be hard to leave it when the time comes to move to finish college. There are such different people here; weirdos, crazies, business folks, normal parents with children, strange parents with strange children! Anyone you can think of you can most definitely find them here. All the different events that happen here too. I just couldn't list everything that happens here there is just too much! If it wasn't so expensive to live in Oregon I might consider it! But where I live is pretty close and still pretty cheap to live! I'd recommend this place to anyone! :)

An official resident

I am an official resident of Washington State. I received my drivers license today! Washington is very strict on giving licenses. First you can't use a debit or credit card to pay for the license you MUST use cash. Then they want all sorts of forms of ID to prove you are you and you do indeed live in the state unlike those folks who go from state to state just to get licenses. Next the woman asked me for my Utah license and gave her both my DL and identification card and she was just flabbergasted that Utah would give both ID's out. (Washington only gives you the DL but I think you figured that out on your own.) So then I had to take the eye test and it was pretty extensive as well, checking eye sight, color that sort of thing. So after getting my photo taken I walked out with a temporary DL! Yay! They let me keep my Utah DL which is cool because it has a good photo on it.

One of my favorite falls in the world!

Those of you who know me know that I LOVE waterfalls. The best kind of waterfalls are those you can swim in and hopefully the water is warm when you get there! But most of the waterfalls in the pacific NW are not warm...actually they are darn right cold. But the chance to stick your foot or two in them is heaven to me! I want to introduce you to Snoqualmie Falls; I think one of the top 5 waterfalls of all time in my mind anyway. This is a breathtaking waterfall if you ever have a chance to see it, do, you will not regret it. To get to the bottom of the falls you have to take a steep mile or so walk down which I have never done but will do someday.
I, unfortunately, did not capture this image. I must give credit to Michael from Fort Lewis, WA and no, I have no idea who he is. I just took this photo from http://www.snoqualmiefalls.com/ and hope I don't get in trouble.

Yes, I know...

It's been a while since I have done anything with my blog. I doubt anyone is still reading it but I am still here alive and kickin'. I just don't have anything to say unlike that awesome LIVEEARTH post I wrote last week. I had the weekend to myself because the father and *her* went to the coast; so I had a taste of what my life will be like when I move to my own apartment in September. I really enjoyed not having to do the dishes every second of every day. I enjoyed leaving my homework on the coffee table until the next day. I didn't like being by myself at night but that is something I'll get used to because I have never liked being by myself at night. My scardy-cat syndrome as I like to call it comes out at night. So I was going to go to Seattle but I decided against that. Then I was going to go to the Japanese Gardens in Portland but then I thought to myself...and I said it just like this "Hey, save that going out time for when the weirdo's are actually home. Spend what time you can watching t.v since you know you never get to otherwise" So that's what I did. I watched movies.

I rented Singin' in the Rain, Notes on a Scandal, Japanese Story, Devil Wears Prada and Persuasion. My one line reviews for each. Singin' in the Rain is darling, cute and almost as good as An Affair to Remember and Roman Holiday. Notes on a Scandal is creepy and after watching it you need a shower. Judy Dench is SOOOO creepy. You seriously feel icky from her performance. Japanese Story is boring, I got it obviously because of the japanese guy but he wasn't great either. Devil Wears Prada is wonderful. Persuasion is sorta boring, watch Pride and Prejudice, much better Jane Austin film. Ok yes, I know Notes on a Sandal is longer then one line. The only movie I'd recommend is Devil Wears Prada. I wasted $14 on the others.

Hey! Hey! Look at that, I found something to occupy a couple minutes of your time!

No posts

Hello everyone,

I haven't had much to say these days which is why I haven't blogged for a while. As we speak I am just sitting here staring at the computer trying to think of something witty or intelligent to say and nothing comes to mind. I have to impress my graduate degree toting brother and it stresses me out!!! he he.

Oh, oh, I thought of something to say. I have been watching this LiveEarth concert today and it is really cool but isn't this concert missing the point? All of these people had to drive to the concert, which causes pollution. How many water bottles did they sell and are probably sitting on the ground causing greenhouse gases and littering. (I got that little tip from the commercial, aren't I smart?!) Not to mention all the lights that were on the musicians while they sang which causes an energy problem. Don't get me wrong I worry about the earth but doesn't it seem like people only talk about global warming in the SUMMER??!! No one talks about it when there is 32 inches of snow on the road.

I think if people try to do a little it can help a lot. I am all for people using reusable water bottles though. I hate those stupid water bottles! They hurt animals. They are just left for no other purpose. They just clutter up the environment. Those are my thoughts on the issue.
